What to do the day after Thanksgiving…

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I hope your holiday was full of stuffing your faces and food comas.  I love any holiday that revolves around food.  :o)   We spent our Thanksgiving up north- sleeping in, making food, playing in the snow, and reading books.  In short, it was perfect!

Today though, I woke up feeling less than stellar.  A few months ago, I went through an intensive elimination diet and since then, I’ve removed some foods from my diet.  So after indulging myself yesterday, I woke up feeling bloated and with an upset stomach.  It was totally worth it, but I’m spending today trying to get my gut and myself back on track.

If you woke up feeling the same, here are some tips for how you can get back on track:

my little bakers 🙂

  1. Keep Thanksgiving to yesterday.  Most holiday pounds occur from multiple days of eating/drinking, not just one.  Eat as you normally would today and remind yourself that holidays are special occurrences, not every day treats.
  2. Chug the H2o.  Any weight gain that you might see today is most likely due to water retention from eating extra carbs/salt.  In order to flush out the bloat, chug the water.  Water moves water!  Warm water with lemon is also a natural way to get things moving if you’re feeling a bit backed up.  Plus, it’s yummy!
  3. Know that your body is primed for a solid workout! You don’t have to work out to make up for anything you ate- food is food and life is meant to be lived- BUT, with those extra treats comes extra stored energy, so your body is primed to go on long walk or run today! Plus, sweat also flushes out some of that extra water weight AND gives you endorphins.  Endorphins make you happy!
  4. Throw out or give away the leftovers.  Controlling your environment is the number one thing you can do to ensure your success! Getting the temptations out of the house and keeping them to the one day is key!  Consistency-either consistency with eating healthy or consistency with not eating healthy- will bring you your results.

What are some of your ways that you get back on track?  I’d love to hear them!

***If you need a little accountability and support now through the holidays, you definitely should join my online accountability group. What I WON’T DO is tell you to avoid the holiday celebrations from now to the new year and only eat kale and chicken.  What I WILL DO is teach you how to eat with a sense of purpose and form a game plan for those festivities so that you’re not flying blind and setting yourself up for failure.  I truly understand the temptation of saying, “I’ll start again in the new year,” but that means you’ll start the new year feeling tired, lethargic, and uncomfortable in your own skin. And how many, “I’ll start on Monday” have you given yourself?
Instead, let me help you establish some healthy habits that you can take into the new year! I’ll get you set up with some good workouts, fun, motivation, and a meal plan that is EASY and sustainable.
If you’ve been watching me for awhile, curious as to what this is about, or are just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, stop watching and reach out!  I don’t charge for my coaching, all you need to invest in is the program and the cost completely depends on your goals (as little as $8/month).  But I can’t help you if I don’t know you need it!
