Heirloom Tomato Bucatini

The end of summer is the time when tomatoes are at their finest and most abundant. Which means that all tomatoes are going to be on sale at grocery stores and farmer’s markets. This is the only time of year that I made Heirloom tomato

Best Weekend in Las Vegas

Best Weekend in Las Vegas

August 2022 Las Vegas Trip

This was my first trip to Las Vegas since my bachelorette trip and the hubs and I were finally able to go, sans kids! It ended up being the best weekend in Las Vegas that I had ever had! We ate good food, partied, played slots, and even had a chance to sit by the pool.

Resorts World Hotel

We stayed at the new Resort’s World Hotel which is a Singaporean themed hotel. Some of my friends preferred the chic modern feeling of Cosmopolitan and Aria hotels, but I would stay at Resort’s World again because it’s new, doesn’t smell like tobacco smoke yet, and bright inside. I don’t know if we’re just getting old but we appreciate well-lit casinos and the other ones had a dingier feel.

Best of all, Resort’s World is Asian themed and had everything I needed for a wild weekend. They got the mega club Zouk with the big electric DJs playing, they got an Asian themed food court with Vietnamese, Thai, Singaporean, and Filipino food stalls, they got boba, and best of all they got slots with cute dancing panda graphics for the entertainment! I only left my hotel to eat with friends a few times but I could be thoroughly entertained there the entire weekend.

Overlooking the Resorts World Courtyard

Proud to be wearing vintage. The top came from a thrift store and shorts are an old pair of Calvin Klein jeans my MIL gave me from the 90s that I took a pair of scissors to.

Didn’t realize that the yucky Trump Tower is in there background. The weather was in the high-90s and I just realized how bright and beautiful the sky was during my trip. There’s a few pool areas. One area is for Ayu day club, one pool for families, and an adult pool with a bar. When I was younger I would totally hit up the day club but now I couldn’t hardly imagine why anybody would want to drink and dance in 100+ temperatures!

Best Weekend in Las Vegas Because of…

Before this trip, I used to think that slot machines were lame money drainers! But, I realized it was because I didn’t know how the F to play them! All the lines, different bets, and graphics made me confused and want to give up until I gave Dancing Panda a try! I did lose money but in a fun and slower way than playing blackjack. The lowest minimum for blackjack tables was $25 and I didn’t want to go broke the first 3 hours into my vacation.

I see my future self in this photo as one of those Asian grannies that rides the bus to the Indian gaming Casino every Wednesday once a month!

Dancing Panda Addiction!

Dancing Panda is only 88 cents per spin and this thing teased me to death my entire time. When you get a chance at a jackpot spin, you have to spell “Grand” for the $5,000 prize or “Major” for the $800 prize and I would come so close. Only missing 1 letter in those words!!! The tease!! At least I won plenty of the $30 pots but I was just always so close to the panda dumpling all the lovely golden coins at me. I would go back to LV just to play panda slots.

The crazy part about Resorts World is that the entire casino is full of Asian themed slots…anything you want.. mystical dragons, Chinese angel money babies, Korean fire balls, lucky Fu bats, Chinese empress, lucky peaches, 888…all with cute graphics. I feel like this particular casino was targeting me and know my weakness for cute characters, and letting me win a little so I can lose a lot!

Tiger Boba Sugar

Tiger Sugar (or what I call it, Tiger Boba Sugar) is a very famous boba chain from Taiwan. It’s the only boba place I have seen on the LV strip thus far, and I’m glad it’s in Resorts World since it’s the bomb. I only tried their #1 top seller which is the original sugar boba tea in Cupertino, but being a huge Matcha lover, I was stoked that their newest addition is this Matcha Tiger Sugar boba latte! Seriously so good! The bitter matcha mixed with Taiwanese black sugar created a heavenly combo. I was having the time of my life drinking my bomb boba and playing cute panda slots.

Las Vegas Restaurants

Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill

Gordon Ramsay’s pub is in Caesar’s Palace and was our first stop after getting off the plane. This is a more casual restaurant compared to his main restaurant, Hell’s Kitchen, but I saw the famous beef Wellington on the pub menu.

Who doesn’t want to start. a child-less vacay with oysters? We could not resist.

We opted for “less” heavy options. The fish and chips were amazing with super crispy exterior and juicy interior. Hats off to Chef Gordon Ramsay! And you can never got wrong with a big fat juicy burger.

Samurai Japanese BBQ and Grill

Samurai is not located on the LV Strip but in Chinatown. If you’re tired of the exorbitant dining prices on the strip than opt for Chinatown, its a 10-minute uber drive but will save $$$ on food costs so you have more $$$ for slots.

We got the assorted regular meat boat for $79. It fed 4 of us pretty well along with an extra order of rib finger, miso butter scallops, mushrooms, salad, kimchi, and rice. We spent $250 with tip and tax. This would be considered a steal compared to prices on LV strip or here in Silicon Valley. With gas prices skyrocketing, local taxes almost %10, added employee cost of living surcharges and insurance, even going out to Pho in San Jose can cost a fortune. No wonder people not making $500K per year are leaving.

Japanese bbq or Yakiniku is the Japanese version of Korean bbq. It’s good if you want to taste the pure flavor of meat and can’t take spicy, but I’m part-Korean so bring on the garlic! Spice! Fishy banchan! Soju!

I told my hubby to put the melted miso butter scallop sauce on top his rice, he said it was the best idea all day.

CATCH Seafood in Aria Hotel

Really pretty and trendy high-end seafood restaurant. They had pics of famous people that had been there before like Yeezy/Kardashains and Beyonce/Jay-z. We were wonder if all the plants and flowers are real, they aren’t. Very pretty for pics!!

Can’t go to a seafood restaurant without getting the seafood tower. The marinated fatty salmon was the best! Rest of tower was good but I’m not a lobster person. To me, there’s nothing like eating a seafood tower by the beach in SF or Monterey. LV has to get everything trucked in so I feel it’s not as fresh as what we get in the Bay Area. Uni was decent, only slight iodine flavor.

The New York strip steak had a perfect crispy crust and the lobster mashed potatoes were excellent. Very satisfying meal to end the vacation!

It was nice to end the summer with a quick LV trip but now that school has started up again, type b mama has to start bento planning for first grade lunches!
